From the Italian inspired canals to the Coney Island feeling found on the boardwalk there is no doubt that Venice draws creative inspiration from around the world. While Rose Avenue may not be considered a main street, it is still one of the diverse settings offered by the famous neighborhood.
DNA Clothing is one of the best kept secrets of the Westside. DNA is a mini-outlet store that offers an Urban Outfitters vibe blending trendy, funky, and hip pieces (but for less). Their items vary from basics to more unusual items. Here you’ll find casual mens clothing, a great denim section with a variety of brands, flirty dresses, jewelry and more.
ME & Blue is nestled in a brightly painted cottage. The owner, M.E. Ster, combines vintage garments and her own line which focuses on the use of textures and patterns. Fun accessories are found throughout the store including cool bags, colorful scarves and cocktail rings. Clearly influence by the 60s and 70s this store is perfect for the BoHo girl!
In the neighboring bungalow is Big Red Sun a landscape and design firm that blends the indoors and outdoors. Having started in Austin, Texas their designers have a great understanding of their clients’ need for draught-resistant plantings. Their Venice store showcases the company’s aesthetic and focus on entertaining. Merchandise includes plants, succulent terrariums, home accents, vintage serving pieces (from glass punch sets to ice buckets), and beachwear. With plenty of seating and an outdoor fireplace the backyard is perfect for small gatherings and is available for parties.
